The Cobb County School Calendar for the 2026 to 2027 school year begins on Monday, August 3, 2026 and ends on Wednesday, May 19, 2027. The start date is one day earlier than last year, and the end date is 1 day earlier than last year.

School Calendar Guidelines and Notes:

Georgia law requires students to attend school for 180 days, or the equivalent. Each year, districts are also given four “emergency days” that can be used if needed, and many systems build those into the calendar.

In Cobb County, the schedule includes 176 student days and 185 teacher workdays. The school year is split evenly, with 88 instructional days per semester. The first semester (94 days for teachers) ends before Winter Holidays, while the second semester (91 days for teachers) ends on the Wednesday before Memorial Day. School breaks generally follow a consistent pattern year to year:

Fall Break falls during the last full week of September
Thanksgiving Break begins the Monday before Thanksgiving Day
Winter Holidays usually begin on the third or fourth Monday in December, spans about two weeks, and typically ends on the first weekday after January 1.
Winter Break begins on the third Monday in February (Presidents Day)
Spring Break starts on the first Monday in April, aligning with Marietta City Schools and many metro Atlanta districts

The school year typically ends midweek, with students finishing on the Wednesday before Memorial Day and staff wrapping up their year on the Friday before Memorial Day.

Graduation ceremonies usually begin on the Monday of the week before Memorial Day and continue through the Sunday just before Memorial Day.
