A Guide to Pubs, Breweries, Cocktails, and Wine
Marietta Square has developed a bar scene with several distinct personalities. One block offers a 1920s cocktail room. The next has a Celtic pub that is open until 2 am. A brewery patio waits around the corner. Add sports screens, Spanish wine, live music, and a food hall bar, and downtown has enough options for a full evening without leaving the Square.
Johnnie MacCracken’s Celtic Firehouse Pub
Johnnie MacCracken’s is the Square’s old school pub, and it makes little effort to behave like a polished cocktail lounge. That is the point. The Celtic Firehouse Pub occupies a former firehouse at 15 Atlanta Street and stays open until 2 am Wednesday through Saturday. Beer and whiskey lead the drinking program, while the winding collection of rooms and outdoor spaces provides a genuine pub atmosphere. The place has accumulated stories. Some are probably suitable for print.
Glover Park Brewery
At 65 Atlanta Street, Glover Park Brewery operates a taproom and dog friendly beer garden inside a 1930s brick building. Marietta natives Sam Rambo and Hank DuPre founded the brewery, with SweetWater Brewing Company cofounder Kevin McNerney involved in the brewing side. The appeal is straightforward. It has house beer, outdoor tables, televisions, events, and plenty of room for groups that do not plan to whisper.
Glover Park Brewery feels particularly well suited to warm afternoons and concert evenings. Patrons can claim a table in the beer garden, order from the current tap list, and remain close to the center of downtown.
Cøntrast Artisan Ales
Contrast Artisan Ales at 101 Church Street is the second taproom from the Chamblee based brewery founded by Chase Medlin. The Marietta location pours Contrast beers across a wide range of styles, with dark beers available throughout the year rather than disappearing once stout season ends. Opened in October 2024, the multilevel taproom also has outdoor seating near the Square, making it a good stop for drinkers seeking locally brewed beer in a smaller setting than Glover Park Brewery.
Two Birds Taphouse
Two Birds Taphouse is the beer bar for drinkers who appreciate choice but still expect a real dinner. The bar has 32 rotating taps focused mainly on breweries from Georgia and the Southeast, plus craft cocktails, boutique wine, shared plates, and wood fired pizza. Dinner is available Tuesday through Saturday, while the bar commonly remains open later than the kitchen.
The space at 52 Powder Springs Street combines historic brick and timber with a contemporary bar. It can become busy on weekend nights, but that energy is part of its identity. The beer selection changes regularly, providing plenty of reasons to return and very few reasons to overthink the first round.
The Third Door
The Third Door at 131 Church Street turns a restored 1930s filling station into an intimate cocktail bar and live music venue. Its menu covers classic cocktails, original creations, and mocktails prepared with house ingredients and garnishes. Live performers appear through much of the week, ranging from acoustic acts to full bands and songwriter sessions.
The patio retains the outline of the former gas station, giving the bar a setting that feels connected to the building. The Third Door is one of the strongest choices for a date night or for cocktails made with intention.
Marietta Proper
Marietta Proper at 9 West Park Square serves wine, cocktails, and small plates in a room inspired by the 1920s. Its drink menu includes wine by the glass, espresso martinis, bourbon, tequila, gin, cognac, beer, and zero proof choices. A separate speakeasy area hosts wine events, themed evenings and drink specials.
The atmosphere is more polished than the pub and brewery crowd, though a Miller High Life remains on the menu for guests who have seen enough chandeliers for one evening. Marietta Proper also stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a great stop for drinks after dinner elsewhere on the Square.
Hamp & Harry’s and High Note
Hamp & Harry’s at 168 Roswell Street operates as a restaurant during the day and a lively cocktail destination at night. Happy hour runs from 3 to 5 pm Tuesday through Friday, with seasonal cocktails, local beer, and wine accompanying its food menu.
High Note, the live music room associated with Hamp & Harry’s, opens on Friday and Saturday evenings, with performances beginning at 6:30 pm. It is a great option for dinner, cocktails, and music under one roof, reducing the risk of losing half the group while moving between addresses.
Three Roses Tavern
Three Roses Tavern at 105 North Park Square is one of the Square’s two primary sports bars. More than 15 televisions fill the restaurant, including a 200 inch screen positioned for major games. The locally owned gastropub’s atmosphere is suitable for both family meals and packed game day crowds.
The televisions do most of the decorating at Three Roses, making it a great spot for fans who want the game visible from nearly every seat. The atmosphere gets louder for Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and college football matchups, especially when a questionable call gives the room a common enemy.
L on North
L on North at 113 North Park Square pairs a full bar with an American menu built around steaks, seafood, burgers, salads, and shareable plates. Handcrafted cocktails and local craft beer are a significant part of the restaurant, rather than an afterthought to the dining room, and live music is a regular part of the experience. The combination makes L on North a particularly option for groups looking for dinner and drinks in the same place, with enough substance on both sides of the menu to satisfy people who came primarily for one or the other.
West Park Sports Club
West Park Sports Club occupies the former Red Hare Brewing Company space at 29 West Park Square. The upscale sports bar has 15 televisions, a full bar, and a second drinking area called The Reserve downstairs. Its menu pushes beyond standard game day food with dishes such as the Smokehouse Stack, Tokyo fries, Rubenesque grouper, and a bulgogi cheesesteak. It is a solid choice for watching a game with cocktails, craft beer, whiskey, or bourbon.
Forno Vero Pizza & Bar
Inside Marietta Square Market, Forno Vero Pizza & Bar pours from more than 30 beer taps and offers wine, traditional cocktails, and specialty drinks for the entire food hall. Its own kitchen prepares Neapolitan style pizza using double zero flour and San Marzano tomatoes.
Forno Vero is a particularly good choice for groups with competing food cravings. Drinks can come from the bar, food can come from any stall in Marietta Square Market, and the group can reunite at one of the nearby tables. It is an easy solution for groups that cannot agree on dinner but remain willing to drink together.
Silla del Toro
Silla del Toro at 30 South Park Square is a Spanish tapas bar with more than 40 Spanish wines, sangria, and cocktails inspired by Spanish classics. The small plate menu includes traditional tapas, seafood, lamb, and other dishes designed for sharing.
Silla del Toro is a good fit for wine drinkers, date nights, and groups that prefer to order several plates for the table. Brunch starts at noon on Saturdays and Sundays for those who prefer their weekend drinks with croquetas and patatas bravas.
Mac’s Chophouse
Mac’s Chophouse at 19 North Park Square has a polished bar program built around craft cocktails, reserve wines, bourbon, and premium spirits. The cocktail list includes classic, smoked, and barrel aged selections, while the whiskey program offers a deeper selection than many restaurant bars.
Mac’s Chophouse is one of the more expensive drinking stops on the Square, but the steakhouse setting, seafood and deep spirits list support the higher tab. It fits best for dinner and drinks at the start of a polished evening or as the final round before heading home.
Stockyard Burgers & Bones
Stockyard Burgers & Bones at 26 Mill Street pairs its burger and barbecue focused menu with one of the deeper whiskey selections around the Square. The full bar has more than 40 whiskeys and bourbons, along with rotating craft draft beer, wine, and signature cocktails. It is a good option for drinkers who want bourbon with a full meal, particularly burgers, smoked ribs, steak, or seafood.
Willie Rae’s x Pisano’s on the Square
Willie Rae’s x Pisano’s on the Square at 25 North Park Square combines the Willie Rae’s bar and Cajun influenced menu with selected dishes from Pisano’s Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen. The restaurant reopened on July 31, 2026 following construction, with menus from both businesses.
The combined restaurant offers a casual place for drinks and dinner, pairing the Willie Rae’s bar with selected dishes from both Willie Rae’s and Pisano’s. It is a practical stop for groups looking for cocktails, beer, pizza, Italian dishes, or Cajun influenced food in one downtown setting.
Gianni & Mac’s Ristorante
Gianni & Mac’s Ristorante at 85 Church Street combines Italian dining with a substantial cocktail program, a curated wine list, beer, and zero proof drinks. The cocktail menu includes Italian inspired spritzes, sangria, espresso based drinks, and several bourbon and tequila selections, while the kitchen focuses on handmade pasta, wood fired pizza, seafood, and other Italian dishes. A large outdoor patio adds another option for drinks near the Square, particularly for groups looking for cocktails and a full dinner in the same stop.
Marietta Wine Market
Marietta Wine Market at 18 Powder Springs Street SW offers more than 500 wines, along with beer, gourmet cheeses, snacks, and wine accessories. Visitors can buy a bottle for home or enjoy wine inside the shop, which has the relaxed familiarity of a neighborhood bar. Tastings take place Wednesdays from 5 to 7 pm and Saturdays from 2 to 4 pm, with proceeds benefiting a different local charity. Live music is also offered on Fridays and Saturdays.
Deep Roots Wine Market & Tasting Room
Deep Roots Wine Market & Tasting Room opened at 107 Church Street in March 2026, adding a self guided tasting experience to the Square. Domestic and international wines are available by the taste, glass, or bottle, allowing visitors to sample several selections before committing to a full pour. Deep Roots also offers a wine club, private events, tasting programs, gifts and accessories. It is a good stop for wine drinkers who know what they like, along with those who normally select wine by studying the label and hoping for the best.
Drinks to Go in the Entertainment District
The Marietta Entertainment District permits licensed restaurants, bars and breweries to sell alcoholic drinks to go for consumption inside the designated downtown boundaries. Drinks need to be placed in clear plastic cups holding no more than 12 ounces. Cans, bottles and glasses are not approved as walk around containers.
The entertainment district covers a large area, however alcohol is not allowed in Glover Park at the center of the Square or on the sidewalks bordering the park (
map).
Finding the Right Bar on Marietta Square
Beer drinkers can begin at Glover Park Brewery or Cøntrast Artisan Ales and move to Two Birds. Cocktail drinkers can pair The Third Door with Marietta Proper or Hamp & Harry’s. Sports fans have Three Roses and West Park Sports Club, while Johnnie MacCracken’s handles the late shift. Marietta Wine Market and Deep Roots offer tastings, bottles, and a slower and calmer alternative to the Square’s traditional bars. Silla del Toro covers Spanish wine, and Mac’s provides bourbon and a more formal setting.
The appeal of drinking around Marietta Square comes from the contrast. The Square does not ask every bar to feel the same, and that has strengthened the downtown drinking scene. There is enough variety here to support several versions of a night out. One evening may involve Spanish wine and live music, while another may end with bourbon in an old firehouse, all without requiring a rideshare between stops.
