This round of health inspections brought a strong rebound story for several restaurants. Reveille Cafe bounced back from a 73 earlier this year to a perfect 100, while Dumpling Garden jumped from a failing 51 to an 89 and Tasty China climbed from 58 to 85 after follow-up inspections.

Most kitchens in this report performed well, with a long list of perfect scores, including the newly inspected Deep Roots in downtown Marietta, which opened strong with a perfect score. On the other end of the scale, Mambo Italiano in Atlanta posted the lowest score in this batch with a 67.

A Quick Note About Inspection Scores

Health inspections capture how a place looked on a specific day, at a specific time, under a specific set of conditions. A high score is a great sign, and a lower score is a good reason for a restaurant to fix issues fast.

The Georgia Department of Public Health uses a 100-point scale to grade restaurant inspections. Scores of 90 to 100 earn an “A” and reflect excellent compliance. Scores between 80 and 89 receive a “B” and are classified as satisfactory compliance. A score of 70 to 79 results in a “C,” indicating marginal compliance. Any score below 70 is marked “U” for unsatisfactory and requires immediate corrective action. Establishments that receive a “U” are generally given up to 10 days to address violations before facing the possibility of suspension or closure.
