The Georgia Ballet is bringing glamour and competition to the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre with An Evening of Stars: A Celebrity Dance Gala. The event pairs local public figures with professional dancers from The Georgia Ballet for a live competition that supports both the ballet and several nonprofit organizations. It is part performance, part fundraiser, and part reminder that dancing in public looks a lot easier from the audience.
The featured celebrity participants for the 2026 event include Tanya Mendoza of WAGA FOX 5, Madelyn Orochena of Kennesaw City Council, Suzanne Forte of Comcast, and J. Nichole Smith of DeKalb County. Each will perform a short routine with a professional Georgia Ballet dancer in front of a live audience and judging panel. Awards will be presented for People’s Choice, based on fundraising totals, and Judge’s Choice, selected by the judges.
The celebrity competition is the main attraction, though it is not the only one. The evening will also include performances by The Georgia Ballet Company, along with a special appearance by Artistic Director Daet Rodriguez and his wife, Margit. The result should be a lively night with polished performances, a little suspense, and plenty of reason for the audience to stay locked in from start to finish.
Tickets are on sale now, with admission levels that range from general seating to upgraded options with reception access and drink tickets. Silver tickets include the performance and red carpet hour. Gold tickets include one rooftop reception overlooking Marietta Square, while Platinum tickets include access to both the pre show and post show receptions.
Proceeds from the gala support The Georgia Ballet and participating nonprofit organizations, including Atlanta Toys for Tots, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Frontline Response, and In the Action. That gives the night real purpose without taking anything away from the entertainment. Guests get a stylish evening at The Strand, and local causes get a meaningful lift. That is a pretty good final score before the judges even weigh in.
