Solar Slice Pizza is a place that understands two basic truths: pizza should be great, and waiting for pizza is a lot better when there are arcade games involved. It is bright, loud, a little nostalgic, and anchored by the simple promise of hot slices, classic arcade games, and pinball machines.
Solar Slice opened on May 5, 2024, in the former Baby Tommy’s Taste of New York space. Founder Zachary Wyatt brought experience from Atlanta’s Fellini’s Pizza, then built Solar Slice with its own personality: New York-style slices, full pies, calzones, vintage games, pinball machines, and enough 80s and 90s nostalgia to make their 
Ninja Turtle feel like a solid design choice.
The menu features thin and crispy pizza, available by the slice or as full 14-inch pies. The basics are covered with cheese and pepperoni, but Solar Slice also has varieties like Cup N’ Char Hot Honey, Meat Lover, Buffalo Chicken, Margherita, Hawaiian, and Spinach Mushroom.
The menu also includes The Portnoy, an ultra-thin, extra-crispy, well-done pizza made for diners who care deeply about crust texture, crunch, and the dreaded “flop” that can turn the first bite into a race against gravity.
The name is a nod to Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and host of the popular One Bite Pizza Reviews series. In those reviews, Portnoy visits pizza shops around the country, takes a bite, and gives the pizza a score from 1 to 10. The reviews have become a major point of attention for pizza shops, especially when a score climbs into the 8s.
On May 15, 2026, Portnoy visited Solar Slice and reviewed The Portnoy pizza. He gave it an 8.1. For readers who do not follow the One Bite universe, that is a very strong score. For Solar Slice, it turned a little fun with internet pizza culture into a real-deal endorsement.
Solar Slice also offers calzones, a house salad, cheesy bread, dipping sauces, fountain drinks, Mexican Coke, bottled water, beers on tap, and a shareable s’mores pizza. The sweet spot here is casual eating: a slice at lunch, a full pie for the table, a calzone when pizza feels too recent, or a late-night order when the responsible dinner window has already closed.
Solar Slice mixes pizza with retro movie posters, toys, pinball machines, and classic arcade games. It has the feel of an anemoic neighborhood pizza shop crossed with a well-loved play room, which is not at all a complaint. It gives families something fun to do while waiting on food, and it gives adults a reasonable excuse to care about a pinball score.
Solar Slice is also open late, which gives it an edge in an area where too many kitchens tap out early. Opening hours are from 11 am to midnight daily. Located alongside a busy stretch of Cobb Parkway, Solar Slice is easy to reach for dine-in meals, takeout, delivery, or a late slice after the day has already gone sideways and only melted cheese, a crispy crust, and a bit of gaming can restore order.

7/24/26 Update: Solar Slice is bringing its thin, crispy pizza and arcade fueled personality to Sandy Plains Marketplace. The second restaurant will occupy the former MOD Pizza space near Sandy Plains and Shallowford roads. Founder Zachary Wyatt opened the original Cobb Parkway restaurant in 2024 after years of experience at Fellini’s Pizza.
