Marietta Square Winter Farmers Market

A winter edition of the popular Marietta Square Farmers Market is open from 10am to 1pm every Saturday through March 31, 2012. The market is located on Mill Street just off the main square. The winter market will take place every Saturday rain or shine.

A total of 38 vendors will participate this year selling Georgia grown, Georgia made or Georgia produced products including local vegetables, lettuce, baked goods, bread, eggs, local honey, bacon, sausage, salami, cured meat, fish, rabbit, cheese, milk, pasta, pilaf, salsa, and more. Selling begins as each individual vendor sets up – no later than 10am – so get there early for the best selection.

(the official hours are 10 to 1, however many of the vendors are set up and selling by 9am)

FREE parking is available all day Saturday at the county parking decks, located at the corner of Lawrence and Waddell Streets, one block West of City Hall.

Daddy Daughter Dance


The annual Daddy/Daughter Dance is open to fathers and daughters ages 5-12 years old, and features a fun afternoon with great music, dancing, and refreshments. Dress is semi-formal to formal. This is a great opportunity to make another magical childhood memory! Bring your dancing shoes and camera!

Register early because space is limited and reservations are required. Registration is at the Marietta Parks and Recreation office located on the third floor of City Hall, 205 Lawrence Street.

Santa in the Square

Bring the kids to Marietta Square to visit Santa’s Workshop on December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 & 22-24th. The workshop will be open Saturdays and weekdays from 10am-6pm, Sundays from 11am-5pm, and December 24, 2011 from 10am-3pm. Closed for lunch from 1:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

Santa must leave at the designated hour each day to attend to holiday business, so be aware that the line will close one hour before closing.

Santa’s hours on Christmas Eve are 10am to 3pm. He has a busy night planned so he must leave early!

Free parking is available in the Cobb County parking deck on Cherokee Street. Handicapped parking is also available near the Square.

Marietta Square Christmas Tree Lighting

Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for the kick-off to the holiday season Thursday, December 1, 2011. Festivities start at 5 p.m. in Glover Park in the Historic Marietta Square. Local school choruses will perform Christmas carols as children visit with Santa in the gazebo until 8 p.m. Santa will light the giant Christmas tree, donated by Big John’s Christmas Trees, at 6 p.m.

Behind The Scenes at The Strand

Want to sneak a “behind-the-scenes” peek at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre? The Strand now offers guided tours of the historic theatre, event space, and rooftop terrace. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the theatre dating back to the 1930s, recent renovation efforts and fun facts about the theatre business.
