2025 Marietta Greek Festival

The 35th annual Marietta Greek Festival takes place at the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church from May 16-18, 2025.  The event celebrates Greek traditions, culture and delicious Greek food and takes place the weekend after Mother’s Day each year.

A wide variety of Greek food will be available for purchase, including favorites such as Chicken Oreganato (Greek-style chicken), Souvlaki (pork tenderloin kebabs), Keftedes (Greek-style meatballs), Dolmades (seasoned ground beef & rice wrapped in grapevine leaves), Spanakopita (spinach & feta cheese pie with a flaky filo crust), gyro wrap (seasoned beef or marinated chicken, grilled & served on pita bread, topped with Tzatziki sauce), smoked lamb sandwich, gyro bowls, and numerous other Greek foods. Sampler and combo platters are also available, and beverage choices include soft drinks, bottled water, wine, beer, greek beer, ouzo (grapes distilled with aromatic seeds such as anise, coriander and fennel), and metaxa (a blend of brandy and wine).

Greek Festival FoodBe sure to save room for dessert which includes almond crescents, baklava, chocolate baklava, kourabiethes, koulourakia, and baklava sundae. Can’t make up your mind, then try the dessert sampler which includes a variety of festival favorites.

The Hellenic Dance Program will be performing throughout the festival. The program is comprised of six dance groups that cover pre-k through 12th grade as well as a young adult group. The performances begin with traditional dance shows during the day, and progressing towards more modern dance club hits at the end of the evening.

The event also features a Greek marketplace with more than a dozen vendors with items including Greek jewelry, handmade linens, scarves, Greek cuisine, Greek cookbooks, art, oil paintings, candle holders, wood crafted items and more.

Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox ChurchChurch tours are available throughout the weekend and last approximately 10 minutes.  The Byzantine style sanctuary and church tour showcases the rich color, distinctive iconography and beauty of the interior of the Orthodox church.

Marietta Gardeners Club Annual Plant Sale

The Marietta Gardeners Club is having their annual plant sale and expo where you can learn, explore, and shop from over 90 vendors at Jim Miller Park’s covered arena. Plants, gardening supplies, artisan goods, bird and bee products, yard art, crafts, pottery, food, and more will be available.

The event also features activities for the kids at the Kids Corner – with free face painting, educational materials, and a scavenger hunt. Mother’s Day gift containers and a white elephant table with gardening items will also be available. In addition, there is the “Ask A Master Gardener Booth” where members will be available to answer questions and give advice.

2025 Marietta Community Egg Hunt

The Marietta Community Egg Hunt takes place at Life University and features fun, food, games, music, activities, and plenty of egg hunts for everyone. The event takes place on the athletic fields upper field/track and features more than 50,000 eggs and candy for the various hunts.

Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop

The Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop is an annual event perfect for the entire family. Watch as over 90,000 eggs and candy are spread out and rain down from a helicopter onto the football fields at Sprayberry High School.Starting at 10 am, the event will not only entail collecting eggs but also offer various activities such as candy, face painting, DJ, and a kids zone with inflatable slides and bounce houses for both younger and older kids. Additionally, make sure to have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny for free between 11 am to 3 pm to capture unforgettable memories.

There is no charge for admission, and plenty of free parking will be provided at the school. Food will be available for purchase, with the proceeds benefiting both the Shop with a Yellow Jacket and the Shop with a Longhorn programs for Sprayberry and Kell High Schools.

Bunny Brunch

The City of Marietta’s Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a special Bunny Brunch (formerly Breakfast with the Easter Bunny).  The event takes place at the Custer Park Sports and Fitness Center from 10 am to noon.  Brunch treats will be served while children create Easter crafts and meet the Easter Bunny.

Space is limited so hurry up and register for Bunny Brunch. Register for the event in advance either online or in person at the Custer Park Sports and Fitness Center.

Family Fancy Pants Dance

“The time has come for us to say Goodbye to Family Fancy Pants Dance. The event was well loved in the past, but it is time to move forward to new events in the future.”

The annual Family Fancy Pants Dance (formerly the Daddy/Daughter Dance) wass open to children ages 5-12 years old as well as their fathers, mothers, or other special person in their life.  The event featured a fun afternoon with great music, dancing, games, and activities.  This was a great opportunity to make another magical childhood memory.

The theme for 2023 was Dance Around the World.  “Step” into Irish shoes, “Tango” to Argentina, “Polka” around Poland, and celebrate the different cultures of the world. Dress was semi-formal to formal, and theme appropriate dress was also welcome.

It was advised that participants register early because space was limited and reservations were required. Registration and more information was available online.

Cost:
Tickets were $30, $5 for additional children, $10 for 1 additional adult.  Registration was limited to the first 100 children.  Tickets included dinner, dessert, DJ entertainment, prizes, and activities.

Document Shredding Day

On Saturday, March 8, 2025, the City of Marietta and Keep Marietta Beautiful are hosting a paper shredding event from 9 am to noon at Elizabeth Porter Park.  Participants can bring up to 5 copy paper sized boxes of documents.

If you have confidential or sensitive documents that need to be safely discarded, Keep Marietta Beautiful will allow you to watch your documents as they are shredded on site. Paper items only will be accepted.

Christmas Tree Recycling

For City of Marietta residents, the City of Marietta will offer free Christmas tree pick up service to residents with normally scheduled yard waste service.

To utilize this service, residents must have the tree on the curbside by 7 am and the trees must be free of all decorations. If customers place their trees out during the first or second week of January, then those trees will be collected with yard waste or at random.

Trees with lights, stands, tinsel, ornaments, or nails will be picked up as garbage on the next pick up day.

For residents of Cobb County, Keep Cobb Beautiful is sponsoring free Christmas tree recycling drop-off locations throughout Marietta and Cobb County.

The following parks and recreation location will accept trees through January 4, 2025:

    (Fullers Park will accept trees at the lot down the street on Robinson Road close to intersection of Robinson Farms Drive)

Recycling trees creates mulch, fuel, wildlife habitats and other useful material.  In Cobb County, recycled trees will be chipped into mulch and used throughout Cobb for beautification projects, soil erosion prevention, lakes, pond and water retention efforts.
