Red Hare’s Rabbit’s Reserve Saison Ale

Red Hare’s Rabbit’s Reserve #3: Saison Ale Release Set for June 2, 2012

Red Hare Brewing Company announces the date for the third release in its limited edition Rabbits Reserve Series, a Saison. Scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Red Hare brewery located at 1998 Delk Industrial Blvd. in Marietta, the beer release event will feature live music from local band “4 Monkeys,” and food by Williamson Bros. BBQ and King of Pops. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the party will end at 5:30 p.m. No cover charge, but tasting glasses cost $10 and come with six beer sampling tickets.

Saison is a style of beer also called a Farmhouse Ale. This beer style is often called “complex” with a fruity nose and flavors, dry yeasty tones that may lend a degree of spiciness, varying tartness, and some bitterness. Saisons have enjoyed a revival recently, with many craft brewers adding the popular style to their summer brew rotation.

Red Hare’s Saison features wheat, pilsen and crystal malts. Bittering, flavor and aroma are provided by U.S. Goldings and French Strisselspalt hops. Spicy flavors are achieved through use of Belgian ale yeast.

The Rabbit’s Reserve series is released every 3-4 months, reflecting current trends in popular beer styles. These one-off batches provide the brewers a chance to be creative and expand the brewery’s offerings beyond its year-round beers.

Update:

As you know, it’s all about the beer.  Our saison is experiencing a slow ferment, and try as we may, it is on its own schedule.   Red Hare would rather delay the release of what promises to be an outstanding summer beer than rush it and turn out an inferior brew.

We are postponing our Saison release until June 9 – we’re still working out details with the band and vendors for the date change, but we’ll update our social media outlets with the news as we hear from them.

Because of the short notice, on June 2 we will have a pre-release party, with $5 pint glass specials and (hopefully) live music and some food.

Red Hare Brewing Company is Marietta’s first and only craft brewery. Red Hare produces three year round beers: Long Day Lager, Gangway IPA and Watership Brown Ale as well as a limited edition Rabbit’s Reserve Series. The brewery is open to the public for tours and tastings Thursday and Friday from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more info: www.redharebrewing.com

National Water Trail

The Chattahoochee River, located partially in Cobb, was recently designated as the country’s first National Water Trail. The National Water Trails System is a new network that will increase access to water-based outdoor recreation, encourage community stewardship of local waterways and promote tourism to fuel our local economy.

The Chattahoochee River Trail travels through 48 miles of river within the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and the park serves more than 3.2 million visitors per year. In addition to providing more than 65 percent of the public greenspace in the metro Altanta, the river also provides most of the area’s drinking water.

“The Chattahoochee River Water Trail provides clean water, greenspace and river access for millions of Americans every year,” Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said. “As our nation opens a new chapter on rivers, one where we value our waterways for their recreational, economic and ecological importance, it is fitting that the Chattahoochee River Water Trail leads the way.”
