The Marietta Square now has an “entertainment district” in which you can purchase alcoholic beverages to-go and then walk around the district with an open-container. Restaurants, bars, and breweries with alcohol licenses are authorized to sell alcoholic beverages like cocktails, beers, and glasses of wine in clear plastic to-go cups. There are no day or time restrictions other than drinks can only be purchased when restaurants, bars, and breweries are allowed to sell alcohol.
The entertainment district specifically excludes Glover Park and the adjacent sidewalks surrounding the park.
The entertainment district began as a 1-year trial that started on November 12, 2020. During the first year, it was only permitted to sell to-go containers on Thursdays from 5 pm until 10 pm, Friday from 5 pm until 11 pm, and Saturday from 10 am until 11 pm. When the district was made permanent in November of 2021, the day and time restrictions were removed.
