On September 7th, 2014, The Strand will be awash with sizzling sounds, clanging pans, and possibly the scent of a culinary setback or two. Roasted: A Celebrity “Food Fight” Fundraiser, benefiting the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation and The Strand, is a competition between public figures of Marietta to decide who will go home the champ and who will go home roasted.
Guests of the event can expect h’orderves, prepared by the Chattahoochee Technical College Culinary Program. Chef Hillary Gallagher will be overseeing the competition to ensure the historic theatre remains intact, and Johnnie Gabriel will be hosting the event.
The show will feature four teams consisting of a chef and sous chef: Mayor Steve Tumlin and Kim Gresh; Chairman Tim Lee and Elaine Armster; Attorney General Sam Olens and Shan Cooper; and Mayor Max Bacon and Faye Dimassimo. The teams will prepare the dishes live in front of the audience and two lucky patrons will be chosen to join Johnnie Gabriel as the final judges.
