November Jazz Friday at dk Gallery will celebrate their two years of Bringing Contemporary Fine Art to the Historic Marietta Square. All dk Gallery artists will participate in the It’s All Black and White show.
Having an art show with works only in black and white sets the tone for a collection of values, contrast and composition. White is evoked by light and in contrast black absorbs frequencies of light. The two coming together leaves a simple yet bold palette.
Top dk Gallery artist, Susan Easton Burns, suggested the theme saying, “Working in black and white is a great challenge for any artist. Many of the building blocks of a good piece of art needs to be established before color. This show will take seasoned artists back to the beginning, and remind them where they came from. The result would be dynamic, high contrast work. The artist must depend on other elements of art, besides color to interest the viewer.”
“dk Gallery is honored to be part of the thriving art community here in Marietta.” said dk Gallery owner Donna Krueger. dk Gallery is one of four galleries in the area. The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, The Earl Smith Strand, and Theatre in the Square all add to the resurgence of the arts around the Square and are helping this community thrive. Krueger continues, “The Square is alive with the Arts! We are humbled by our success in our first two years. It is an honor to represent the exciting artists we do. Our patrons have embraced them. That is the true joy of this wonderful vocation. Seeing your artists and community thrive because of the arts.”
