M.U.S.T Capital Campaign

MUST Ministries was recently awarded a “challenge grant” from the Kresge Foundation for its Build, We MUST Capital Campaign. With a total goal of $6.8 million, MUST is required to raise the first $6.3 million. If this is accomplished, The Kresge Foundation will provide the remaining $500,000. To date, MUST has received a total of $5.5 million in total gifts and pledges. The deadline is fast approaching for MUST to meet this challenge grant: March 31, 2010.

About the Kresge Foundation

The Kresge Foundation awards facilities capital as a challenge grant to help nonprofit organizations build their base of private financial support as they conduct capital campaigns to build or renovate their facilities. Facilities capital challenge grants are awarded to organizations that cater specifically to the needs of poor, disadvantaged and disenfranchised in six fields of interest: health, the environment, arts and culture, education, human services, and community development.

A Silent Birthday Song: The General

In celebration of The Strand’s first birthday. Relive a piece of Marietta’s history about a famous locomotive chase that started in Marietta. The 1926 flick, The General, is a comedic masterpiece starring Buster Keaton and featuring live organ accompaniment on The Strand’s Mighty Theatre Organ by Ron Carter. Other entertainment will include the Little General Cloggers, Harper Harris, lead interpreter from the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History, and Russell Bonds, author of Stealing the General. Tickets are $7-8 and are available through The Strand’s box office. Tickets which were purchased for the January showing are still good and assigned seating will remain the same.

East Cobb Library Ribbon Cutting

The new East Cobb Library is having a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 2pm to celebrate the opening of the new location. The Merchant’s Walk Library has moved to Parkaire Mall on Lower Roswell Road. The new East Cobb Library is nearly twice the size of the old library and the largest branch library in Cobb County.

Annual Egg Hunt at East Cobb Park

Come join your neighbors for the Annual Egg Hunt in the Park at East Cobb Park. Live entertainment will be provided by Big Daddy DJ and YOU! Children will be separated by age groups (0 to 3 yrs, 4 to 7 yrs and 8 to 10 yrs) for the hunt. There will be refreshments with all proceeds benefiting East Cobb Park.

Please note that there is no Easter Egg Hunt at East Cobb Park in 2011.
Let’s hope that this returns for 2012, and perhaps they should change the name to Semi-Annual Egg Hunt ;-)
