Glover Park Concert Series

The 2009 Glover Park Concert Series takes place on the last Friday of each month from April to September. Enjoy music under the stars and be sure to bring a picnic and blankets or set up your lawn chairs after 4pm. Personal tables can be set up on North Park Square after 5:30pm but not in Glover Park. Beer and wine is permitted. The free outdoor concerts take place rain or shine.

All concerts are free all summer long, but if you’re looking for a “front-row seat,” a limited number of tables can be reserved. The cost is $45 for a table that seats six people, or $55 for a table for eight. For more information about table reservations, call 770-794-5601. Reservations for tables are on a first come basis beginning on the first working day of each month.

May 29 features the Beatles Tribute Band The Return.
June 26 features an Oldies/Beach concert with Infinity Show Band.
June 27 features a performance by Cobb Symphony Orchestra, part of the Cobb Symphony Orchestra Free Summer Concert Series.
July 31 features a Rock n’ Roll/Beach concert by Grapevine.
August 28 features a Pop/Oldies performance by The Mustangs.
September 25 features a Country music show by Ryan Casper.

Wing N’ Rock Fest

Why did the chicken wing cross the road . . . to get to the cold beer and great fun at the 4th Annual 97.1 Wing N’ Rock Fest! Wing lovers of all ages will enjoy this huge all-day outdoor festival, featuring live rock bands and 50 types of wings from Marietta’s wing czars, like Taco Mac, Buffalo’s Southwest Café, WOW Café & Wingery, Twisted Taco, and Hooters. “Extreme” wing lovers can win some fantastic prizes by signing up for the “heated” Wing Zone Wing Eating Contest at the 97.1 The River booth.

Live music will be provided throughout the day by four tribute rock bands . . . Chain Reaction (A Tribute to Journey, Rock Fight (Tom Petty & John Cougar Mellancamp Tribute), Turnstile (British Classic Rock Covers) and the kids from School of Rock.

Families with kids can check out the Gas South Kidzone where the kids can “rock” with an extreme slide, monster Jeep inflatable & adventure course.

Rain or shine, eat and dance the whole day long!
The Wing Zone Wing Eating Contest will begin at 5:30pm

From Atlanta, take 1-75 North to exit 263. Follow (West Bound) to Marietta. This road will become South Marietta Parkway 120 S Loop. Follow west about five miles to Atlanta Street. Turn right. Marietta Square is two blocks ahead. Note: North Park and East Park Square will be closed.

Pirates of Penzance @ The Strand

The Pirates of Penzance first opened in 1879 and was written by W.S. Gilbert with music by Arthur Sullivan. This comic opera tells the tale of Frederic, who is the apprentice to a group of sentimental pirates. When he turns 21, he leaves his indenture to join respectable society. He soon meets and falls in love with Mabel, the youngest daughter of Major-General Stanley. He promises the General that he will apprehend the band of pirates but soon finds out that, due to a technicality of being born on February 29 in leap year, he is still apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday.
